ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

EU Ecolabel Certified | License No. IT/051/031 (Active through 2027)

At Hotel Le Calette, we recognize that luxury hospitality must exist in harmony with the natural beauty of Cefalù and the Mediterranean sea. To safeguard our territory, we adhere strictly to national environmental standards and voluntarily go beyond legal requirements by implementing a third-party verified environmental management system certified under the EU Ecolabel (License IT/051/031).

Key environmental commitments & measurable actions

1. Energy Efficiency & Climate Protection

  • 100% Renewable Electricity: 100% of the electricity purchased by Hotel Le Calette originates from certified renewable sources (Guarantees of Origin – GO).
  • Solar Energy: Thermal solar panels with vacuum-tube technology are utilized to heat domestic hot water across guest rooms and facilities.
  • Smart Energy Management: Guest rooms and common areas are equipped with automated home-automation switches, occupancy sensors, and high-efficiency LED lighting to eliminate unnecessary power consumption.

2. Water Conservation

  • Flow Reducers: All guest room faucets and showers are fitted with water aerators and flow-limiting devices to optimize water usage without compromising guest comfort.
  • Linen & Towel Management: To combine 5-star service with water and energy conservation, bed linens and towels are changed upon guest request or at specified eco-friendly intervals during multi-night stays.

3. Sustainable Procurement & Single-Use Plastic Reduction

  • Short Supply Chain: Over 80% of our fresh food ingredients (produce, cheeses, meats, and seafood) are sourced directly from Sicilian suppliers, including the Madonie and Nebrodi regions and certified Slow Food Presidia.
  • Elimination of Single-Use Plastics: Water in guest rooms, restaurants, and bars is served exclusively in returnable glass bottles or filtered carafes. Single-use plastic straws, bags, and cups have been fully eliminated across all hotel operations.

4. Waste Management & Circularity

  • Hazardous & Special Waste: Batteries, electronic components, and pharmaceuticals are collected in dedicated reception receptacles and disposed of through certified specialized waste management channels.
  • Circular Materials: Furniture and architectural elements are selected using natural, durable, and locally crafted materials to ensure longevity and minimize landfill waste.

5. Sustainable Mobility

  • Zero-Emission On-Site Transport: Guest transportation within the resort property is conducted using 100% electric golf carts.
  • Guest E-Mobility: Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and electric bicycles are available on-site to encourage low-impact exploration of Cefalù and its surroundings.
